DIY toothpaste

Daily, I take mindful steps to live a Holistic Life! Keeping toxic ingredients out of my body and skincare routine is key to a well balanced lifestyle. I have been making this remineralizing toothpaste recipe for my friends & family for years, they love it! I also make mouthwash & activated charcoal toothpaste. The source to healthy teeth and enamel is proper oral care. Try it, and let me know how you like it!

Note for doggy owners, Xylitol is considered harmless to people, but is a life-threatening toxin for you pup. Store in a safe place, like a mason jar with a tight lid.

Ingredients

3/4 cup virgin coconut oil
Coconut oil has been used for centuries and is great for overall oral health.

3/4 cup calcium powder
Calcium powder helps strengthen tooth enamel, helps prevent tooth decay and cavities

1/3 cup xylitol
Xylitol inhibits the growth of the bacteria that cause cavities, its also been know to help in preventing cavities and strengthening teeth

2 tsp baking soda
Brushing with baking soda helps to break up plaque on the teeth, whitens surface stains, prevents dental decay, cavity formation and gum diseases. It fights bad breath by balancing the acidic levels of residual food in your mouth. It also helps in treating painful mouth ulcers.

48 drops essential oil (I like peppermint)

How to prepare

Add your Calcium powder, then add coconut oil. Add the rest of the ingredients minus the peppermint oil. Mix it for a little THEN add the peppermint oil and continue mixing. The total time of stirring is about 2-5 minutes. You just want to make sure the ingredients are blended well.

A thing to note, if you don’t want it in liquid form, you can add put it in your refrigerator until it hardens. Store in a cool dry place. Enjoy 🙂
